Analysis - Gerri Halliwell's 'It's Raining Men'
"It's Raining Men" was released on April 30, 2001 as the first single from Geri Halliwell's second solo album, Scream if You Wanna Go Faster. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the 2001 film Bridget Jones's Diary. In which the song is thematically linked to the singular females point of view. an alternative version of Geri Halliwell's video was released with clips from the film intertwined into the video making it a trailer for the film as well as a way to promote the artist and the new CD. Response to A2 Brief
A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with two ancillary tasks: a digipak for the album's release & a magazine advertisement for the digipak.
Initial thoughts:I look forward to transferring and developing my skills from AS media in order to an exceptional music video. I look forward to considering all different aspects that are included in making a successful music video. For example if I was to use a song from a rock background I would have to conform to rock stereotypes e.g. dark colors, dark makeup, leather jackets, tattoos and piercings. One of the problems I will encounter will be gaining copyrights to use a song, this is something I will have to look into, then the next step would be to reach out to bands and artists and attempt to attain copyrights.
Skills and development:
I feel that my skills from AS will allow me to create substantial promotional products. However I really look forward to develop my still image editing skills, I also look forward to learning and developing editing skills for a music video. after speaking to previous A2 students I have learned this can be quite a challenge. Despite being told that I still look forward to the challenge set before me.
What am I looking forward to the most?
For me the most appealing aspect will be editing the music video itself, it amazes me ho professionals can portray meanings through slight tweaks make when editing the video. I equally look forward to filming an idea but placing it behind something to present it as a hidden meaning, one thing that has always interested me is the art of deduction.
What scares me the most?
I have no initial worries, as I will approach each task with an open mind. I am open to all criticism as I know this will help me improve.
